What Happened In Marawi
Reports of the firefight in Marawi started to arrive at around 2PM on May 23, Tuesday. According to reports that day, it was a heavy and continuous firefight between the military and a group of armed men who were later identified as members of the Maute group.
Hours after the firefight started, there were reports that the Marawi Police Station and the Marawi City Jail were taken over by the Maute group.
At 11:20PM, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the proclamation, and via Presidential Spokesperson Abella, declared martial law all over Mindanao.
Malacañang released a report on the number of casualties in the Marawi incident. As of yesterday, May 28, 61 terrorists, 16 government troops, and 19 civilians have been killed in the clashes.
