A wedding is a memorable occasion for two people in love. It marks the beginning of their life together as husband and wife, eventually parents, then grandparents, on to create happy memories for the rest of their lives.
Newlyweds Johnny and Laura Benson were having their pre-reception photo shoot until they received their early wedding surprise. A rattlesnake sneaked up in the middle of the shoot and bit Johnny’s leg!
“All of a sudden it was like someone kicked me in the shin,” Johnny said. “Then I looked over and saw the snake sitting there, and it was rattling.”
Fortunately, a Larimer County Park Ranger was driving by and was able to give Johhny immediate assistance.
Their photographer, Maddie Mae, continued on documenting the scene. Despite the accident, the couple still managed to smile and strike a thumbs-up pose. Maddie then uploaded the series of photos on Facebook.

“A Larimer County Park Ranger was driving by, and all 3 of us started waving furiously at him,” Maddie wrote on the caption. “He rolls down the window and we yelled, ‘He just got bit by a rattlesnake!’ The ranger, obviously not hearing what we said, yelled back, ‘CONGRATULATIONS!’ at the couple in wedding clothes. But then when he got the message.”
Johnny was then rushed to the nearby hospital. Luckily, ER staff found out that the bite was venom-free and released him immediately.
The couple arrived to their wedding reception an hour late, hand in hand, with Johnny fist-up.
“I’ve never seen such an emotional grand entrance as all 184 guests cheered when Johnny & Laura walked in and showered them in a sea of passionate hugs,” Maddie wrote.
“I admire Laura & Johnny so much for staying calm, and holding each other’s hand through the first great test of their brand new marriage.”
