Detained Sen. De Lima demands Malacañang to reveal Duterte's real health issues!

The detained Senator Leila de Lima demands the administration to be transparent about the real health of President Rodrigo Duterte.

In her letter from the detention facility, De Lima cited Section 12, Article VII where it states that, "In case of serious illness of the President, the public shall be informed of the state of his health. The members of the Cabinet in charge of national security and foreign relations and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, shall not be denied access to the President during such illness." She said that is the Malacañang's "moral obligation" to be inform the public of the President's health.

"Of course, Malacañang is well within the constitutional bounds when it refuses to fully inform the public about the President’s ‘vacation’, but it is also its moral obligation to go beyond what the Constitution requires," the detained senator blabbered.

"This is called transparency and accountability, two words that are already lost to this administration and its senior Cabinet officials," she added.

She also stated that the rumors of the president being sick will not stop until the Malacañang fully informed the public.

"Knowing the truth about the President’s state of health is both a matter of public interest and national security," de Lima stated.

"For the past several days, the men and women of our uniformed service have remained in their post, have continued to discharge their solemn duty to defend the Filipino people, and some have even made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Amidst their continued and constant service, WHERE is the President? Where is our Commander-in-Chief?" she continued.

Malacañang on Thursday clarified that the President is well and he is "just taking some time off to rejuvenate".

"After all, you have to consider that he has been on the road for at least 23 days, fulfilling his martial law supervision, so it has been really brutal, so we have to allow him this kind of rest," Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said in a press briefing.

However, Abella wasn't able to give the exact date of President Duterte's next public appearance, but he noted that he must be "spending the time mainly resting".

Duterte haven't showed up for past few days, starting from the day when he had to skipped ceremonial rites at the Luneta Park for Independence day celebration.

Because of this, the opposition lawmakers had been blabbering about when will he show up again and what is his reason for suddenly not showing, some even insisted that he should just be honest about his real health issues.

Abella assured that there is nothing to worry about Duterte.

"I’m talking about his general sickness condition. I’m saying there is nothing to worry about in terms of sickness, major sickness, but what I’m saying is that considering the schedule he has been given, he needs to rest. You do need to rest, don’t you?" Abella said.

"He’s tired, he’s just tired. Like I said, he has been on the road for about 23 days. As far as I can say, he’s resting," he added.

The President have been very busy ever since the clashes in Marawi City began, he traveled back and forth to different places and provinces to visit wounded soldiers. The night before Independence day, he was at Cagayan de Oro City where he joined and condoled families of the slain soldiers at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City for the transfer of their remains, where according to Foreign Affairs Sec. Alan Peter Cayetano, Duterte had only 2-3 hours of sleep.
