Maute Financier PATAY, Asawa at mgaTauhan Huli sa Lanao del Sur

An alleged Maute terror group supporter and a drug lord was shot dead during a gunfight inside his hideout in Barangay Jose Abad Santos,  Malabang town of Lanao del Sur on Wednesday.




Stated by Capt. John Arvin Encinas of the 6th Infantry Division The incident happened when elements of the 6th Infantry Battalion in Malabang and anti-narcotics operatives were serving a warrant at his hideout when Nago Balindong tried to solve it by firing at them. According to the officials, Balindong is one of the most wanted drug lords in the province. Encinas stated the police acted after receiving intelligence  pointing to where his hideout is.

"He opened fire on our troops, triggering a gun battle," Encinas stated and adding that Balindong had already six warrants of arrest for murder charges.

Balindong is known to be one of the most wanted drug lord in the province, warrant was against him for peddling illegal drugs. However, there were also reports that ties Nago Balindong to be Maute supproters.

Among the recovered were 10 mobile phones, P3,000 cash, 3 huge sachets of shabu, .45 pistol and two hand grenades.

Authorities were also able to arrest three of Balindong's lackeys who were identified as Bocari Balindong, Camaloden Balindong and Tingaraan Boro-Boro.



The slain alleged Maute supporter's wife, Noraya Santican Balindong, who is a barangay official, was also arrested after the shootout.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Gilbert Gapay, deputy commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command, stated in a televised press conference that there are some members of the Marawi terror group may have already Marawi City.

"It is possible, because at the very start we haven’t plot all the exits of Marawi yet. It's possible, some may have exited Marawi before the incident escalated," he said.

Brig. Gen. Gilbert Gapay also cited that Cayamora Maute, who was considered to be the leader of the Maute group, was apprehended at a checkpoint in Davao City along with other four were also seized during the checkpoint.

Gapay mentioned that some militants may have escaped Marawi City while the Isnilon Hapilon is still believed to be in the city.

Hapilon swore allegiance to ISIS in a YouTube video posted in July 2014 and is believed to be the “emir” of ISIS in the country and President Rodrigo Duterte placed a bounty of P10 million for the neutralization of Isnilon Hapilon and another P5 million bounty for each of the two Maute brothers, Abdullah and Omar Maute.

To prevent any terrorist member from escaping, the local governments implemented tighter security measures like "No ID, No Entry"  checkpoints policies.
