"Manny Pacquiao's loss in Brisbane would not diminish the honors he bestowed to the people and to the flag. Nothing will change: Senator Manny Pacquiao will remain our People's Champ, Pambansang Kamao, and National Treasure in Global Sports."

Vice President Leni Robredo also issued a statement complimenting Manny and comparing Manny's battle and eventual loss to the resilience of the Filipinos and their ability to stand up and get back to their feet after a blow.

"Manny's loss today will be a disappointment to many Filipinos, particularly those loyal fans who have cheered him on and have been inspired by him throughout his career. But every loss is also an opportunity to get back up --  this has been the story of Manny Pacquiao, as it has also been the story of millions of other Filipinos. Battered by poverty, by calamity, by prejudice, so many of our brothers and sisters have been knocked down, but continue to muster the will to get back up. They have always been a source of strength and inspiration to me, and in this hour of disappointment, I hope they will also be for Manny," VP Robredo said.

Meanwhile, for Senator Tito Sotto and Davao City Representative Karlo Nograles, Senator Manny Pacquiao's was clearly cheated.

The fight between Pacquiao and Horn was last Sunday, July 2, in Brisbane, Australia. It was a come-back fight for Manny Pacquiao after several years of taking a hiatus in boxing. He tried to defend his welterweight belt, but apparently lost.

A lot of Filipino fans were dismayed and disappointed over the result of the fight, declaring Horn as the winner.

Boxing trainer and commentator, Theodore Atlas stated that Manny Pacquiao was a victim of a screwed up fight. He was not convinced that Horn won the fight.

The disappointment was rooted in the nature of Horn's actions during the fight which were not of conventional boxing. Consequently, this created a buzz regarding the judges' decision.  However, the World Boxing Organization or WBO, responded to the rumors by releasing the official score cards of the three judges during the event, proving the unanimous decision of the judges, Waleska Roldan, Chris Flores, and Ramon Cerdan.

In addition, Senators Koko Pimentel, Cynthia Villar, at Joel Villanueva showed their appreciation and pride towards the achievements of Manny Pacquiao.

However, for Representative Carlos Zarate, it is already time for Senator Manny Pacquiao to retire from boxing and focus on his responsibilities as a senator.

Many netizens also supported the idea of Pacquiao leaving his boxing career behind to focus on his responsibilities as a senator of the Philippines. They said the Senator Manny Pacquiao has long been neglecting his duties as a legislator, and instead continued to do boxing despite his promise during the campaign period to be a full-time senator.
