The NBI have warned the members of a private Facebook groups bearing the name 'Pastor' or 'Pastor Hokage Bible Study' for spreading pornographic images. The group members are exchanging photos and videos of women without their knowledge, commenting lustful comments and even using the Bible term 'Amen' which means they are agreeing to what is posted.
Koko Rodriguez of a group called "Catcalled in the Philippines" expressed how gross these people are.
"Pag-uusapan nila kung ano yung gusto nilang gawin sa babae, yung pinakamasama na pwede mong maisip sa isang babae sa ganoong konteksto. Sasabihin nila and it doesn't matter kung bata yung girl," Rodriguez explained.
"In-appropriate na naman nila 'yung religious na term for their own perverted end... it's like 'we agree' or 'we're with you," Rodriguez added, referring to the term 'Amen".
For the group to accept a new members, it is a must to present first their own collection of vulgar photos.
Esquite Philippines recently published an online feature entitled "The Dark Side of Filipino Facebook" where they exposed that some of these groups are also spreading child pornography and revenge porn.
These groups' have quite a lot members ranging from 9,000 to 2 million.
National Bureau for Investigation have warned the groups members for violations of child pornography and anti-voyeurism laws.
"Well, minors plus child pornography, mabigat ang penalty diyan, plus ngayon kung babae naman nakahubad without their consent, pwede silang mag-reklamo for anti-photo and video voyeurism na violation," NBI-Cybercrime chief Atty. Martini Cruz said.
Facebook Philippines also stated that they will take immediate actions for their nudity and sexual exploitations which are against the social network's community standards.
"We take swift action to remove this content when we're made aware of it, and where appropriate, refer it to law enforcement."
Government authorities are urging the victims of these private pornographic Facebook groups to file a complaint for the law to go after them.
"Regarding sa action na pwede nating magawa, hinihikayat po natin, lalo na po kung may mga taong ginamit yung mga pictures nila without their consent, pwede po silang pumunta sa ating Anti-Cybercrime office dito sa Camp Crame or kung saan sila malapit," said Sr. Insp. Katrina Joy Macalalad, chief of the PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group.
Anyone who uploads photos without owner's permission will be penalized under Republic Act 9995, which penalizes photo and video voyeurism, and RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
"Puwede na magfo-fall siya sa violation ng RA 9995 photo voyeurism act with malicious intent without permission na in-upload ng isang tao yung isang picture," she said.
"Ang hinihingi lang namin is lumapit yung complainant dito sa office namin para ma-aksyunan namin."
If the complainant wishes to keep her identity confidential, she may do so.
"She shall remain anonymous kasi...of course ina-ano po natin na hindi ma-violate yung privacy niya...'Pag ginamit din po yung kanyang face or pictures tas inano sa ibang katauhan, pwede rin natin siyang kasuhan ng identity theft under [Republic Act] 10175, Cybercrime Prevention Act natin," Macalalad said.
