A certain MJ Quiambao Reyes has put forward an intriguing theory why the Kapamilya network did not put up a fight when the NTC issued a CEASE & DESIST ORDER.
Reyes addressed the FB post especially to those who are in the blame mode against the government for ABS-CBN’s shutdown.
PARA TA MGA TT NG TT AT TENGINA NG TENGINA, BATAHIN NYO ‘TO:
Reyes observed that these ABS-CBN artists are aware that in the new normal, film making, concerts, shows and what not will be considered NON ESSENTIALS.
“Alam ko’ng alam nyo na, sa new normal, ang pag gawa ng pelikula, concert, shows, at iba pa will be considered as NON ESSENTIALS.”
Reyes continued that even before the CEASE & DESIST ORDER came out, many of the ABS-CBN artists were already worried if they have jobs waiting for them, wondering when can they start taping again or there will be people who will watch their movies amid the pandemic.
Reyes figured ABS-CBN artists knew this fact. In fact, some of them said they cannot just transfer to other network because the other networks are possibly are going to cost-cutting mode.
“(Alam nyo yan!
Instead of reacting in anger against the government and cussed netizens that do not agree with their so-called cause, Reyes asked if it ever crossed their minds or asked their bosses why did they immediately shutdown on May 5 when they they have 10 days to continue operating while network’s lawyers filed a TRO before the Supreme Court – which possibly give their a favorable result?
For sure, Reyes remarked ABS-CBN’s legal experts knew the legal remedies. Reyes couldn’t help but get an weird feeling the Kapamilya complied with the CEASE & DESIST ORDER with all the drama on May 5, rather than availing a legal relief and waiting until May 15 (after ECQ)?
Pero bakit agad silang nag sign off with all the drama nu’ng May 5, instead of availing legal relief and waiting til May 15 (after ECQ)?”
Reyes once again asked the ABS-CBN artists (Hello Angel Locsin, Kim Chiu, Coco Martin!) if it ever crossed their minds why their network shutdown immediately because of the following reasons:
Reyes enumerated 5 possible reasons to help the ABS-CBN artists get the gist of her idea.
For dramatic and audience impact. Well, who does it better than the Kapamilya network when talking about making dramatic statements for maximum effect? Signing off on free TV during lockdown while transitioning to other platforms was what you call “perfect timing”.
1) Para mas may drama at audience impact kung magsa-sign off sila sa free TV during lockdown and conveniently migrate to other platforms?
Signing off on the day their franchise expired gave the Kapamilya network the perfect excuse to stop airing programs because there are no new contents anyway and a few advertisers to go around during the ECQ. Saves money for the Kapamilya.
Cut your losses. They have reason not to spend money by paying for the salaries of their talents and contractuals because of the “no work, no pay” policy.
3) Para mas may dahilan din para HINDI magpa-sweldo sa mga talents o contractuals na mahigit na raw palang isang buwang no work no pay bago pa man ang CDO? Cut your losses, ika nga?
Gives the Kapamilya network the grounds to downsize while blaming the government for the job losses even though that is not the case.
To make the artist and the rank and file employees blame and get angry for their lost income and livelihood and shift the blame against the government.
Reyes admitted that it’s indeed depressing but this phenomenon is not local but also happening around the world and most importantly, this is not because of Duterte.
But kidding aside, the Kapamilya network was able to do a cost-cutting while not appearing the bad guy or kontrabida and masterfully shifts the anger and blame against the government.
Reyes praised the Kapamilya’s wily move in a sarcastic tone. “Ang husay. Two birds w/ 1 stone.”
Reyes ended the FB post urging the ABS-CBN artists and the anti-Duterte government to think about her arguments. Otherwise, she hoped that the Kapamilya supporters and defenders will accept the fact that not all Filipinos are dumb – just the 3% in the population.
