Former ABS-CBN showbiz news anchor Jobert Sucaldito has taken to Facebook to share one’s reaction to the opening speech of ABS-CBN CEO and President Carlo Katigbak during the franchise hearing in Congress.
Sucaldito remarked that the opening speech was classic ABS-CBN – appeal to the emotion of the Congressmen by referring himself as a beleaguered Kapamilya, fearing for the future of every employee that may lose their jobs should the Kapamilya network fails to secure the much-needed franchise.
“Napanood ko finally in full ang Congressional hearing kanina re the renewal of ABS-CBN franchise sa YouTube. ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak delivered his opening speech with an emotional appeal sa mga kongresista referring to himself as a beleaguered kapamilya fearing for the future of every employee that may lose job should they not be granted the much-needed franchise.”
Sucaldito said this is ABS-CBN’s specialty – to condition the mind of the public that they are the underdog when in fact, they are the best in oppressing their own employees in the past. He said it appears they have mastered the art of getting the sympathy of every Filipinos they have sweet-talked.
“Diyan magaling ang ABS-CBN – sa pagkundisyon sa mga utak ng sambayanan na para silang inaapi when in fact sila itong magaling mang-api sa kanilang mga empleyado in the past. Mukhang na-master na nila ang paawa effect para makakuha ng simpatiya sa bawat Pilipinong nabobola nila. Paano na lang daw ang magiging buhay ng mga empleyado nila should they lose their jobs lalo na in time of this pandemic? Talaga lang ha. Naisip niyo iyon – ba’t ngayon lang? Dahil may kailangan kayo sa gobyerno kaya pati taumbayan ay sinasali ninyo sa emotional appeal ninyo?“
Sucaldito tossed Katigbak’s statement back to him – How about the employees that he axed and suspended indefinitely? Did he think of the lives of more than 100 cameramen his company terminated in 2010 but before that, the Kapamilya boss at that time, invited them to a buffet in a 5-star hotel only to be told they were no longer connected with his company? Did he feel pity to those people? Their families? Did he think where these former employees will get their next meal to feed their children when they were terminated from the company? Sucaldito asked if he knew what he was talking about or he was merely joking?
“Ibabalik ko lang Mr. Carlo Katigbak ang statement mo – paano kaya kaming pinagtatanggal ninyo at sinuspinde indefinitely? Naisip niyo rin ba ang naging buhay ng more than 100 cameramen na pinagtatanggal ninyo nung 2010 at pinakain pa sa five-star hotels bago ninyo sinabing they’re no longer connected with your company? Ok, wala ka pa nung panahong iyon but as you speak kanina, you were speaking on behalf of the management kaya ganoon na rin iyon. Naawa ba kayo sa kanila? Naawa rin ba kayo sa mga pamilya nila? Naisip niyo ba kung saan sila kukuha ng ipapakain nila sa mga anak nila nung tanggalin niyo sila sa kompanya? Are you serious with what you said kanina or nagpapatawa ka lang?”
At this juncture, Sucaldito said he is going personal against Katigbak by reminding the public how he was meted indefinite suspension (without pay) last January 10, 2020 at DZMM and remained jobless when the pandemic came. He asked if it ever crossed the minds of ABS-CBN how he will feed his family when he has no work? Where he will get the money to survive? It was not clear when the suspension will be lifted? And worse, he cannot get a job for fear of getting sued for breach of contract? To make the story short, Sucaldito said Katigbak’s words lacks sincerity and to say he’s concerned for the employees who will lose their jobs if ABS-CBN fails to secure a new franchise is a big lie. He said ABS-CBN is very cruel, disguised as very kind to their people.
“I will go personal naman this time. Wala pang COVID19 nung sinuspinde ninyo ako indefinitely (WITHOUT PAY pa ang specifications ninyo) last January 10, 2020 sa DZMM at inabutan ako ng pandemic na walang trabaho. Naisip din ba ng ABS-CBN kung ano na ang ipapakain ko sa anak at pamilya ko gayong wala akong trabaho? Saan ako kukuha ng perang pambayad at baon ng anak ko sa eskuwelahan niya? Saan ako kukuha ng pambayad sa inuupahan naming apartment gayong wala akong suweldo? Pambayad sa ilaw at tubig? Ang masaklap pa roon ay hindi malinaw kung hanggang kailan ako suspendido at di naman ako puwedeng tumanggap ng trabaho of the same nature sa ibang kumpanya dahil nakapirma ako ng kontrata with you till December 31, 2020. Baka balikan niyo pa ako ng demanda for breach of contract, di ba? After more than 17 long years – nagawa niyo ito sa akin? In short, hahayaan niyo na lang kaming magutom until the end of the year? Mukhang ikasisiya pa nga yata ninyong makitang nagdurusa ako at hahayaang mamatay sa gutom kasama ng sampu sa aking pamilya. Iyan ba ang Kapamilyang sinasabi mo? Ngayon you are appealing to Congress na parang nag-aalala kayo sa mga buhay namin and referred yourself as a CONCERNED KAPAMILYA who cares for your employees. THAT’S A BIG LIE! YOU ARE NOT CONCERNED – sa totoo lang, YOU ARE VERY CRUEL!!!!! ABS-CBN IS VERY CRUEL in the guise of being mabait sa mata ng publiko..Kahit harap-harapan ay taas-noo kong sasabihin sa inyong YOU ARE VERY CRUEL!!!!!!!!”
Sucaldito took a swipe at ABS-CBN’s 5-minute video presentation to showcase the “kindness” of the Kapamilya – their various charitable works which Sucaldito alleged were not funded by their money – but come from donors and sponsors. He insinuated the Kapamilya even made money from their charity works because these were not subjected to auditing and even tax-free because these are initiated by their foundation. He dared ABS-CBN to show proofs that they did not turn their charity works into a profit-generating enterprise.
“And you guys showed a 5-minute video ninyo of the kabaitan kuno of ABS-CBN – ang mga charitable works ninyong di naman sa bulsa ninyo galing ang mga itinulong ninyo – galing naman lahat sa donors and sponsors. Malay naman naming baka pinagkitaan niyo pa ang mga ito kasi nga, wala namang audit-audit iyan and tax free dahil sa foundation nga ang mga ito. Mula noon hanggang ngayon, ang laki ng kinita ng Lingkod Kapamiya at Batay-Bata Foundation na iyan – alam ba ng mga tao kung magkano lahat ng nalikom ninyong mga cash donations at kung magkano lang ang nailabas ninyo? Show us proofs para mapaniwala niyo kaming di ninyo pinagkitaan ang mga foundations na iyan. Hindi kami mga tanga, Oy!!!!”
Sucaldito isn’t done with the 5-minute video presentation of ABS-CBN. He said it was very shallow. Lacked depth. It attempted to come out heart-wrenching but fell flat. He had nothing but praises for the narrator Peter Musngi but the rest was garbage like the script. Just like the fan shown in the video wherein he said “Ang Probinsyano” is his favorite because he learned many lessons? Sucaldito asked what important lessons he learned from the said show after many years of stretching the show just to make money from the sponsors? He said “Ang Probinsyano” was decent when it started but lately? He is sick of it. Sucaldito remarked ABS-CBN tried to brainwash the minds of Filipinos that it’s only ABS-CBN who delivers factual news at good entertainment programs. Still, they failed. Sucaldito asked ABS-CBN to stop the emotional blackmail. It is an old style.
“And suma-tutal, the video you showed is sooooo mababaw. Walang lalim. You attempted to come out heart-wrenching pero di niyo na-achieve. Very loose – VERY SHALLOW using the beautiful narrative voice of Sir Peter Musngi. Doon lang yata kayo panalo – sa magandang boses ni Sir Peter! Ha! Ha! Ha! Showing a cancer victim na gumaling daw dahil sa fan ng It’s Showtime? Hasus! Malaking ka-echosan. Anong klaseng script iyan? Di ninyo inayos. A fan saying na paborito niya ang “Ang Probinsiyano” kasi marami siyang natutunan dito? Anong makabuluhang natutunan niya specifically sa said show after many years na pag-stretch ng show para pagkitaan lang sa sponsors? Sa totoo lang, sa umpisa lang medyo matino ang “Ang Probinsiyano” pero ngayon? NAKAKAUMAY NA, OY! You tried to condition again the minds of Filipinos na parang ABS-CBN lang ang nagbibigay ng tamang balita at magandang mga entertainment programs. Still, you FAILED! Kaya please lang – STOP THE EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL!!!!! Lumang style na iyan.”
Meanwhile, like rubbing salt to ABS-CBN’s wounds, Sucaldito said he was in awe of the argument of Congressman Marcoleta why he was against the renewal of the network’s franchise. Sucaldito said that after Congressman Marcoleta’s lengthy piece and line of defense, it appears that Mr. Katigbak was a just a puppet. In the end, Sucaldito observed that many people realized mr. Katigbak was not speaking as a pained Kapamilya but it was just for the show.
“Anyway, I was in awe sa argument ni Congressman Marcoleta who is against the renewal of the network’s franchise. Inisa-isa niya ang alleged violations ng ABS-CBN sa Konstitusyon and very clear siya sa kaniyang defense on every allegations. From the citizenship ni Mr. Gabby Lopez who was a U.S. citizen when he acquired ownership during the Cory administration in the ’80s at nabigyan lang ng Filipino citizenship in 2002; the tax deficits of the network in many forms; the issues on frequencies, cables, PDRs and a lot more. Maliwanag ang kaniyang mga explanations. He also referred some of his arguments sa opening statement ni Mr. Carlo Katigbak and kung bubusisiin mo, nagmukhang puppet lang si Mr. Katigbak after Congressman Marcoleta said his lengthy piece and line of defense. Parang in the end, marami ang naka-realize that Mr. Katigbak’s is not speaking as a pained kapamilya pala – it’s just for the show.”
Sucaldito ended the lengthy post by taking a jab at House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s message to fellow lawmakers to vote in favor of ABS-CBN’s franchise because of its popularity but for what is right. Sucaldito advised Cayetano to live by his words. He asked Cayetano if he ever thinks? He said Cayetano is just noisy ever since – like an empty drum. He reiterated his advice to Cayetano to think correctly like the saying that goes ‘Silent water runs deep’, can he do it?
“Wait lang, ihabol ko lang ang appeal ni House Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano sa mga kapwa kongresista – na sana raw ay bumoto ang mga ito for the franchise not merely because of popularity but for what is right. Sabihin mo kaya sa sarili mo iyan, Allan dear. Nag-iisip ka ba? Maingay ka lang talaga ever since – parang drum na walang laman. Try mo kayang mag-isip nang maayos – like the old saying that goes ‘SILENT WATER RUNS DEEP”, kaya mo?”
