Former PBA MVP Arwind Santos eyes retirement with San Miguel

Former PBA MVP Arwind Santos expressed his desire to conclude his basketball career with the San Miguel Beermen, the team he has been with for 12 years.

“Oo, ‘yun ang pangarap ko. Gusto ko ring mag-retire doon. Sana bago ako makapag-retire makapaglaro pa kahit minimal games doon (sa San Miguel),” the 42-year-old forward said during an interview with Spin.ph.

In addition, the Pampanga native wishes that one day San Miguel will retire the jersey numbers of their “Death Five.” Santos was one of the members of that dreaded quintet, along with June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Chris Ross, and Alex Cabagnot.

“Pangarap ko na ma-i-retire ko ang jersey number 29 ko sa San Miguel. Sana ‘yung ‘Death 5’ din,” he added.

In his 12 years with San Miguel, Santos won nine PBA titles, one season MVP award, two Final’s MVP citations, and two Best Player of the Conference awards.

In 2021, San Miguel sent Santos to the NorthPort Batang Pier in exchange for Vic Manuel. The former FEU Tamaraw spent two seasons with the Batang Pier before taking his talents to the MPBL team, the Pampanga Giant Lanterns. (MJD)
