Justin Gutang, Changwon edge Josh Torralba, Goyang

Justin Gutang and the Changwon LG Sakers prevailed over Joshua Torralba and the Goyang Sono Sky Gunners, 87-73, in the Korean Basketball League on Thursday night at the Changwon Gymnasium.

Gutang, formerly of the College of St. Benilde Blazers, missed all of his four field goal attempts but managed to contribute five rebounds and four assists as the LG Sakers improved to a 3-3 win-loss slate.

Assem Marei led the way with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the LG Sakers; Hongseok Yang and Lee Jae-do added 12 markers apiece; and Kwanhee Lee ended up with 11 points.

According to Kwanhee Lee, while LG Sakers’ three-game winning run was a welcome sight for the team, it would have been more impressive if they got those victories against the tougher opponents.

“It’s three wins in a row. However, I don’t think it’s a good situation to be in just because we beat three teams that are lower ranked than us. We should have started the winning streak by defeating the stronger teams,” Lee said.

Torralba finished with 12 points for the Sky Gunners, Jeonghyeon Lee led the way with 20 points, and Deyonte Davis had a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds as they dropped to 1-4.
