Scottie Thompson faces knee injury concerns after Blackwater game

Barangay Ginebra superstar guard Scottie Thompson expressed optimism that he did not sustain a serious injury after he hurt his knee in the second quarter of their match-up against the Blackwater Bossing on Sunday.

The incident happened at the 3:59 mark of the second quarter when Blackwater big man Bradwyn Guinto landed on Thompson’s left knee during a rebound play.

Thompson shrugged off the pain and finished the game with seven points, three rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block in 40 minutes of playing time, helping Ginebra escape with a 90-87 win.

After the game, the one-time PBA MVP told reporters that he has to undergo an MRI to check if he sustained a serious injury.

“Medyo hindi ko matupi,” the 30-year-old guard said. “Baka maga pa or something.”

“Kanina after, may na-feel akong iba pero ayokong i-hinto agad kasi gusto ko mapakiramdaman,” he continued. “‘Nung halftime, medyo sumasakit na. All adrenaline lang talaga ‘yung nangyari kaya medyo nag-alalay din ako.”

“But, ‘di ko pa alam. Sabi ng mga PT namin, papa-check. So far, naman, sa tingin nila, nothing serious. Sana,” Thompson added. (MJD)
