Jared Bahay finally found his stroke as the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles defeated the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers, 80-65, in Game 2 of the CESAFI high school boys basketball finals on Wednesday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
Bahay, the top-ranked high school player in the country, had a monstrous double-double with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting, along with 15 rebounds, four assists, and two steals to lead the Magis Eagles.
The Magis Eagles broke away from the Baby Lancers in the third period via a 12-4 run courtesy of the three-pointers from Bahay and Froilan Maglasang as they established a 57-43 lead.
The Baby Lancers pulled to within eight at 56-64 after a triple by Jhunrel Dagatan, but Bahay answered with seven straight points, capped off by a long straightaway three-pointer that gave his team an 80-62 lead.
Maglasang ended up with 15 points, six boards, and five assists, while big man Jelo Rota finished with 12 points, 12 boards, and two steals for the Magis Eagles, which forces a do-or-die Game 3 this Friday.
Rodolfo Cambarijan led the Baby Lancers with 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while John dela Torre added 15 markers.
