Creamline Cool Smashers’ standout Diana Carlos is scheduled to be presented with the Ms. Volleyball award during the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night on January 29 at the Diamond Hotel.
The former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons standout will be acknowledged by the country’s oldest media organization for her contributions, particularly leading the Cool Smashers to two Premier Volleyball League titles in 2023.
Carlos, 25, led the Cool Smashers to victory in the 2023 PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference, stepping up in the absence of veteran Alyssa Valdez, who was sidelined with a knee injury.
In that tournament, the native of Lubao, Pampanga, was honored as the PVL Most Valuable Player, securing this prestigious individual award for the third time.
Carlos played a crucial role in the Cool Smashers’ championship during the 2023 PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference in December, guiding the team to an undefeated run throughout the tournament.
In addition to Carlos, other individuals set to receive citations from PSA include San Miguel Beermen center June Mar Fajardo as Mr. Basketball, Filipinas star Sarina Bolden as Ms. Football, and tennis sensation Alex Eala as Ms. Tennis.
