Davao Occidental Tigers-Cocolife maul Bicol Spicy Oragons in PSL

The Davao Occidental Tigers-Cocolife pulled away in the second half to wallop the Bicol Spicy Oragons, 110-96, in the Pilipinas Super League President’s Cup on Thursday night at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan.

Winston Ynot was named Player of the Game after finishing with 22 points, including four three-point conversions, to go with five assists and four rebounds as the Tigers moved up to 4-3.

According to the incoming College of St. Benilde Blazers cager, they were told by Davao Occidental head coach Manu Inigo to tighten their defense in the second half to create separation from Bicol.

“Sinabihan kami ni coach Manu nung halftime na dumepensa talaga kasi dun nagsisimula ‘yung laro namin. Kaya naka pull away kami nung second half,” Ynot said in a post-game interview.

Justine Sanchez also ended up with 22 markers, Conrad Catapusan contributed 19 markers, and Kelly Nabong chipped in 13 points on 6-of-6 field goal shooting for the Tigers.

From a slim 51-45 lead at halftime, the Tigers went on a huge third-quarter run as they established an 82-67 advantage before widening it to its biggest at 20 points in the final frame.

Jr. Olegario top-scored with 19 points, Jerome Garcia added 17 markers, and Ken Brillantes, Jerome Publico, and Jose Milan had 16, 12, and 11 markers, respectively, as Bicol dropped to 1-4.
