Shej Roi Sumang caught fire in the fourth quarter as the Nueva Ecija Capitals hacked out a 123-81 victory over the Bicol Spicy Oragons in the Pilipinas Super League President’s Cup on Monday night at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.
The former University of the East Red Warriors guard finished with 14 points, all in the fourth quarter, to go with 10 assists and five rebounds as the Capitals remained undefeated in nine games.
“Ang palaging sinasabi ni coach Jerson (Cabiltes) sa amin is, sa sobrang deep ng lineup namin, hati hati talaga ang mga playing minutes, kaya kapag nabigyan ng opportunity, dapat focus sa game,” Sumang said.
Harvey Pagsanjan led the way for the Capitals with 17 points, Robby Celiz added 13 markers, and Emman Calo and William McAloney Jr. ended up with 10 points apiece in the win.
Jr. Olegario paced the Spicy Oragons with 24 points, including four three-point conversions; Jgys Querido added a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds; and Bryan Alarcon ended with 12 points. Bicol dropped to 1-6.
Meanwhile, the JT Taipan Toda Aksyon Bulacan (4-5) cruised to a 76-56 victory over the MisOr Mustangs (4-4).
Jonas Tibayan was named Player of the Game for Bulacan with 15 points and eight assists.
