Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) commissioner Kenneth Duremdes faces controversy as a leaked online conversation reveals his request for the league’s game odds.
The PBA legend contacted an oddsmaker, seeking the odds for the May 30, 2023, MPBL matches, as shared by sports insider Snow Badua on his Facebook page.
“No odds for today? Thank you,” Duremdes asked the oddsmaker in the leaked conversation.
“oooppsss….sori com forgot to send,” answered the oddsmaker.
Basketball game odds, designated as moneyline odds by oddsmakers, reflect the likelihood of each team winning and aim to balance the odds. Negative odds denote favorites, whereas positive odds signify underdogs.
The leaked conversation came to light days after the MPBL revealed an indefinite ban on 47 players and team officials for their alleged involvement in “game-fixing” during the 2023 season.
The MPBL initially chose not to disclose the identities of the banned individuals, but Senator Jinggoy Estrada publicly revealed the names of the 47 during a Senate hearing last Wednesday.
