Louie Alas joins Ateneo’s coaching staff

Former PBA head coach Louie Alas has reportedly joined the Ateneo Blue Eagles’ coaching staff.

A Spin.ph report revealed that it has been a week since Alas began attending Ateneo’s practices.

The 60-year-old mentor is currently the head coach of the Zamboanga Master Sardines in the MPBL. He spent three years as a bench tactician for the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, which is his last head coaching gig in the PBA.

Alas is not a stranger to collegiate hoops, having coached the Letran Knights in 1998 and from 2002 to 2012. He helped the Knights win three NCAA titles.

Ateneo is eager to bounce back from a disappointing Season 86 campaign, where they had to fight for the last Final Four slot after finishing the elimination round with a 7-7 record. In the Final Four, they lost to the UP Fighting Maroons. (MJD)
