Angeline Poyos motivated by UAAP rookie scoring feat ahead of UST-DLSU clash

The recent scoring feat by University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses star Angeline Poyos serves as extra motivation for her leading up to their UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament showdown against the De La Salle University Lady Spikers this Saturday.

The Boholana volleyball player expressed feeling overwhelmed by breaking the UAAP rookie scoring record. However, she acknowledged that there is still more work to be done as the tournament approaches the Final Four round.

Poyos now has a UAAP rookie scoring record of 268 points after scoring 25 points in the Golden Tigresses’ straight-set win over the University of the East Lady Warriors on Sunday night.

The 5-foot-8 Poyos also hold the record for the most points by a rookie in a single game in the Final Four era after erupting for 31 points in the Golden Tigresses’ second round win over the Adamson University Lady Falcons.

“Despite all the records, sa sarili ko, I will always keep my feet firm on the ground,” said Poyos.

The Golden Tigresses are currently in a three-way tie with the Lady Spikers and the National University Lady Bulldogs on top of the standings, with an identical 11-2 win-loss slate.
