Head coach Oliver Almadro and the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights are preparing for a tough challenge from the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers in the NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday afternoon.
According to Almadro, the Lady Knights’ upcoming match against the three-peat-seeking Lady Blazers will be their true test after securing victories in their first four matches of the competition.
“Our current record should not cause complacency among our players, especially since we will face CSB (on Sunday),” Almadro said. “I am really happy na nandito kami ngayon, but the job is not yet done.”
“NCAA is still far from over; I guess naka-buwelo lang kami nang kaunti,” he added. “We need to keep working hard and seek pa kung ano pa ‘yung mai-improve nila, and they have to have a big heart every day.”
However, Almadro proudly stated that the Lady Knights are on the right track toward reclaiming their NCAA glory, aiming to recapture the women’s volleyball championship for the first time since 1999.
“First, ‘yung discipline nila and the eagerness and the will to change the culture, and number one, pagmamahal sa school. If you love your school, ‘yung ‘why’ mo, ‘yun ang naglalabas ng result eh,” Almadro said.
“Right now, I am here leading the team, and hindi ko in-expect, but God has plans, and I hope that God will also lead us to good results.I guess we are on the right track.”
