#SB19FansApologizeToSisi trends amid fans’ social media joust

SB19 fans and Philippine volleyball loyalists were on a roll on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday night, June 9, as the latter made the #SB19FansApologizeToSisi trend to demand an apology from the former for Alas Pilipinas star Sisi Rondina.

This came after SB19 fans took offense at Rondina’s seemingly indifferent response when asked about the P-pop group during a Philippine-organized event in South Korea, where the Alas Pilipinas women’s team and SB19, along with other local artists, were invited together.

Upset at Rondina’s response, A’Tins (SB19’s fandom) immediately swarmed her Instagram DMs, prompting the four-time UAAP Beach Volleyball MVP to hold an IG live to express her apologies.

“Ano daw ‘yung pinakainaantay namin do’n sa independence program dito sa Korea. And then, nando’n kasi si SB19. Personally, ‘di ko kasi talaga sila kilala,” she said.

“Daming na-offend siguro, kaya sorry po talaga. I’m really sorry.”

Aside from Instagram, some SB19 fans also took to X to air out their displeasure with Rondina’s “lack of awareness,” which triggered volleyball fans to immediately defend the star, hence the hashtag.

The chaos didn’t go unnoticed because, hours later, Stell Ajero, an SB19 member, left a reply to one of their fans on X.

“I personally don’t tolerate this kind of behavior. Stop this,” he wrote.

This reply instantly sparked reconciliation between the two groups, with SB19’s pioneer fan page releasing a statement on the same platform, reminding other fans to be careful with their words.

Meanwhile, Rondina hasn’t commented further on the issue as of writing. (AS)
