Leo Austria: Verbal spat with Chris Ross is already settled

San Miguel Beermen team consultant Leo Austria stated that his verbal exchange with Chris Ross during their 114-100 loss to the Converge FiberXers in Game 4 of the PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals last Friday has been resolved.

Austria noted that he and Ross patched things up after the game, emphasizing that the incident in the early third quarter was simply part of the heat of the moment.

“We’ve patched things up. Balewala na ‘yun,” said Austria, a long-time Beermen mentor, before he was demoted to a consultant role. “May slight altercation lang pero wala na ‘yun. Tapos na ‘yun.”

Austria chose not to disclose the reason for his verbal spat with Ross, but reports indicate it was due to the veteran guard being substituted out by SMB head coach Jorge Gallent early in the third quarter.

Ross, for his part, politely declined to discuss the issue as he left the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Friday night.

The Beermen and the FiberXers are set to face off in a do-or-die Game 5 on Sunday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City. The winner will advance to face the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings in a best-of-seven semifinals.
