Mara Aquino leaves MPL PH hosting role after four years

Mara Aquino has announced her departure from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines after four years as its host.

In a heartfelt social media post, she revealed that leaving was one of the toughest decisions she’s ever made, noting that the league has been more than just a job—it’s been her home, her family, and her life.

“I’ve come to realize that it’s time for me to step away. This choice was not made lightly, but in my heart, I know it’s the right one. Letting go is never easy, but I believe that growth means allowing ourselves to evolve, even when it’s uncomfortable,” Aquino said in a Facebook post.

“It means embracing the unknown and having the courage to recreate ourselves when we know, deep down, that it’s time for change. And while this decision is difficult, I know in my heart that it’s time.”

Previously a PBA courtside reporter, Aquino joined the MPL in Season 7 and has since become a prominent figure in local and international gaming.

“For almost four years, I have had the privilege of standing on that stage, watching dreams come true and feeling the heartbreak of those who fell short. I have announced champions, seen tears of joy and disappointment, and shared moments that will forever be part of esports history,” Aquino said.

“Together, we have celebrated victories and endured painful losses. Every moment we’ve shared means the world to me, and I will carry it with me always,” she added.

MPL Philippines expressed its appreciation with a heartfelt farewell to Aquino as both sides prepare for a new chapter with Season 15 starting next month.

“From the stage lights to the roaring arenas, Mara Aquino has been more than just a presence—she has been the voice of MPL Philippines,” the league said.

“Through epic moments, unforgettable matches, and countless post-game interviews, she made sure that every player, every fan, and every game had its story told. Her presence didn’t just add excitement—it made the MPL stage feel like home.”
