Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala was recently honored by Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe Lhuillier during a courtesy visit.
Lhuillier presented Eala with the Premios Tanglaw trophy, an award that celebrates Filipinos and Spaniards who have significantly strengthened ties between the two nations, according to a report by ABS-CBN News.
“I gave her the trophy, which she was not able to attend our embassy celebrations last year called Premios Tanglaw,” said Lhuillier.
Currently ranked No. 72 in the world in women’s singles, Eala expressed her gratitude for the recognition.
“Naramdaman ko talaga yung support ninyo, pagmamahal niyo sa akin, at sana magkita tayo ulit,” Eala said.
The 19-year-old tennis star recently wrapped up her campaign at the Madrid Open, where she reached the second round.
