COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department announced on Tuesday that a warrant was issued for a man who is accused of a drive-by shooting that left a woman and her child injured.
According to CPD, on Tuesday at approximately 6:43 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Susan Lane for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found several spent shell casings in the roadway, but no victims.
Afterwards, a separate report came that mentioned two gunshot victims in front of the Columbus Police Department's East Precinct.
CPD says the victims were a 24-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son, who were then transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional.
The child reportedly had minor injuries, while the woman is listed in critical condition.
After the Violent Crimes Unit responded, an investigation revealed 28-year-old Jontay Reynolds as the suspect. He is reportedly also the victims' husband and father, according to CPD.
The warrants are for charges of aggravated assault (family violence) two counts, while additional charges are pending.
