Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James stirred a frenzy online after teasing what he called “the decision of all decisions,” only for the announcement to turn out to be an advertisement for a cognac brand.
James earlier posted a video on X showing him seated on a basketball court, mimicking the setup of his infamous 2010 ESPN special “The Decision,” in which he revealed his move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat. His post included the hashtag #TheSecondDecision, fueling speculation about a major career move.

Fans quickly speculated that the James, who turns 41 in December, might be announcing his retirement or a major shift in his career.
Ticket prices for the Lakers’ final home game reportedly spiked on resale sites such as StubHub following the teaser post.
However, when the reveal came, it was a parody — a promotional video for Hennessy. James later acknowledged the playful deception by posting emojis and a link to the advertisement.

The four-time NBA champion has remained vague about his future, though he said during training camp in September that he was “excited to play another season,” while admitting that the end of his career is “a lot sooner than later.”
Despite his age, James remains among the NBA’s elite. He averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game last season, leading the Lakers to the playoffs before bowing out to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.
The viral stunt may have disappointed fans hoping for breaking basketball news — much like the original “Decision” did 15 years ago. (AC)
