The dry stretch isn't over yet — moderate to severe rainfall deficits continue across the region, and the trend looks set to persist in the days ahead. Nicole and I discussed this before the morning meeting, and it's something we'll continue highlighting in our forecasts. The lack of rain remains a major concern for local farmers as fall planting transitions into the winter season.
Temperatures will climb gradually through the week, reaching the mid-70s by midweek after today's highs in the upper 60s.
Overnight lows will stay cool, dipping into the lower to upper 40s through the end of the week. A cold front is expected to move in late Friday night into early Saturday, bringing scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Lingering showers may stick around into Sunday.
Looking ahead, colder air will settle in early next week. By Tuesday morning, some of our northern counties — including Chambers, northern Lee, Harris, Troup, and Meriwether — could see freezing temperatures for overnight lows.
