Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings overcame a slow start to score a 103-85 rout over the Blackwater Bossing in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Rhon Jay Abarrientos came off the bench to deliver 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, and a steal to be named Player of the Game as the Gin Kings improved to a 4-4 win-loss slate.
Stephen Holt and Jeremiah Gray added 12 markers apiece, Jayson David contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, and Jeth Troy Rosario tallied 10 markers for the Gin Kings.
After being down 3-11 early in the game, the Gin Kings slowly rallied back to take a 23-22 first quarter lead before pulling away at 63-42 at the half following an eight-point performance of David in the second period.
The Bossing made their presence felt in the third quarter as they cut the deficit to 16 at 64-80 before the Gin Kings regained their offense in the fourth quarter for the biggest lead of 27 points.
Rookie Dalph Panopio finished with a career-high of 22 points, while Sedrick Barefield and Abu Tratter added 17 and 12, respectively, as the Bossing bowed out of quarterfinals contention with their 1-8 mark. (AC)
