Tallulah Proulx wrapped up her historic Olympic debut by placing 50th in the women’s slalom, marking the conclusion of the Philippines’ participation in alpine skiing at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Wednesday at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Milano Cortina, Italy.
At just 17 years old, Proulx stood out as the youngest Winter Olympian representing the Philippines in Milano Cortina.
Despite starting deep in the field at No. 94, the Filipino-American skier steadily improved her position over two runs, finishing with a combined time of 2:08.48.
She clocked 1:02.93 in her opening run to move up significantly in the standings, then followed it with a 1:05.55 effort in her second descent to secure a place among the 53 athletes who successfully completed both runs. A total of 42 competitors were unable to finish the challenging course.
Proulx was the lone female alpine skier representing the Philippines in the Games. She also competed in the giant slalom earlier in the week, where she placed 52nd.
American skiing icon Mikaela Shiffrin reclaimed Olympic glory by winning the gold medal in the women’s slalom, Switzerland’s Camille Rast claimed the silver medal, while Sweden’s Anna Swenn Larsson rounded out the podium with bronze.
Proulx performance, along with that of fellow Filipino skier Francis Ceccarelli, marked another milestone for the country’s winter sports program. (AC)
