Catholic Priest arrested for attempting to molest a 13-year old girl

A Roman Catholic priest was arrested by the Easter Police District for attempting to molest a teenage girl in Marikina City.



Msgr. Arnel Fuentes Lagarejos, a 55-year old priest, was arrested during an entrapment operation of the Eastern Police District against a group of minors pimping other teenagers via social media to rescue a 13-year old female.

Lagarejos agrees to meet with one of the pimps and to teenage girl at Blue Wave Mall sa Sumulong Highway, Barangay Sto. Nino sa Marikina City. However, the mother of the 13-year old reported the negotiation to the authorities which then followed by the law enforcers' entrapment operation.

The priest suspect was on his way to check-in to a motel, riding a green Ford Explorer with the plate TGO 350, when authorities apprehended him. He  attempted to pull a compact glock rifle but, fortunately, the police officers were quick to subdue the suspect.

Lagarejos will charged of multiple counts of child abuse and trafficking in persons act while the pimp and the 13-year old girl are in the custody of the DSWD.

The entrapment operation was originally for the arrest of the underage pimp and the involved syndicate engaged in child trafficking. Police officers were shocked when they discovered that a Roman Catholic priest is one of their frequent customers.

Lagarejos is assigned in Marikina City at Rizal and was the president of a Catholic school. He is known to be one of the people against Reproductive Health law.




HELPING TRAUMATIC CHILDREN

To recover from traumas, a performers' group in Iloilo thought of a way on how to help children who are victims abuses.

Laurence Ligier, a French national, established a group called 'CAMELEON' that is aiming to recruit children who are victims of domestic and sexual abuse in a circus performance.

''We use circus as a therapeutic tool for them to recover and gain back their confidence express physically and present a show, up until the time that they become independent,'' said Ligier.

Currently, they are taking care of 400 children and are training 110 in their circus. The group's yearly budget is P45 million.

The group will hold it's circus show in Mall of Asia music hall for free. Performers will included the abused children recruited by CAMELEON.

On May 29, audience at the Mall of Asia were in awe while watching the breath-taking performances of the French circus. In their show called Metamorphosis, audience were impressed from the performace of nine Filipino girls who were all abused in their own homes.

The show was organized by the CAMELEON Association in partnership with SM Mall of Asia, also with the support of SM Cares and Zonta Club of Makati Ayala. It was a benefit show to support for the beneficiaries of the organization based in Iloilo City.
