Alyssa Valdez, known as the “Phenom,” is closing out the year in style, gracing the cover of Cosmopolitan Philippines’ December issue.
The lifestyle magazine unveiled the stunning photo on Wednesday, showcasing Valdez’s star power both on and off the volleyball court.
Although she deviated slightly from her usual style, she still dazzled with a captivating smile.
“In volleyball, a game is divided into sets. Each set builds upon the last, progressing toward a final score. When we caught up with her, it seems #AlyssaValdez’s life right now is playing out in sets, too—first as a veteran player, then as a mentor and role model, and lastly, as herself,” the caption read.
“The 31-year-old player has been in the game for more than a decade now, but after a life-questioning pandemic and a long-standing injury, she’s found a deeper connection with the sport she’s grown up with her whole life,” it added.
The photoshoot featured a fresh layout showcasing Valdez in a tennis skirt and varsity jacket.
In an excerpt shared by the magazine, the volleyball icon opened up about the sport, the challenges that come with age, and the passion that continues to draw her closer to it.
