Manila-Transport groups stopped their operations in different parts of the country on Monday. And seeks help to President Rodrigo Duterte to stop the planned "PHASEOUT" of Jeepneys.

There were no immediate reports of stranded passengers due to the protest. Some 2,000 drivers from the "No to Jeepney Phaseout Coalition" were to hold a rally at the Quezon City Circle in the morning, said one of its convenors, George San Mateo.

(We want to appeal our situation directly before President Duterte because he is the only one who can solve this problem.)

San Mateo said there could be a fare increase to offset the cost of shifting to modern, fuel efficient jeeps, which cost P1.6 million each.

Transportation officials earlier clarified that they were not phasing out old jeepneys, but were introducing modern and environment-friendly units.

Ganun pa man marami padin ang umaalma.
