"General Bato, fix the killings of people riding on motorcycles. Alagad kayo ng batas, ayusin niyo ang batas hindi ang kabaro niyo," the senator said in an interview on Thursday.
Gordon is disappointed with the reinstatement of Supt. Marvin Marcos and 18 other cops involved in the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. The senator said that Dela Rosa should've told the President that Marcos return to the PNP will not do any good to their agency.
Gordon also said that if the killings persists, he will change PNP chief Bato's nickname to 'Bato-gan'.
"Babaguhin ko na ang pangalan ni General Bato. Pagka-ganyan, lalagyan ko ng ‘gan,’ ‘Bato-gan.’ Dahil ang lumalabas eh ang daming namamatay. Wala silang [ginagawa]," Gordon told reporters.
"They will serve the President and this country better if they do their job," he added.
The senator authored a bill for motorcycle crime prevention that is mandating bigger plate numbers for all motorcycles and scooters. Included in his bill is life imprisonment for anyone who commits crime through or with a backrider.
Dela Rosa got his nickname 'Bato' from his superiors while training as a police officer.
"Ang daming namamatay wala silang ginagawa. They will serve the President and this country better if they do their job," Gordon said.
President Rodrigo Duterte stated that he wanted Supt. Marvin Marcos reinstated despite his involvment in the killing og Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr.
The Department of Justice downgraded the charges against Marcos and other police officers involved in the killing from murder to homicide.
The involved PNP officers were arrested on March of this year and were charged of murder, however, charges was downgraded to a bailable offense.
"Eh tapos na ang suspension, sabi ko ibalik ninyo sa trabahong iyang mama na iyan. Wala naman doon iyan eh," the President said in a speech during the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Camp Aguinaldo.
The President doesn't seem to believe that Marcos is really involved in the murder of Espinosa.
In an ambush interview, Dela Rosa said that he is in favor of reinstating Marcos.
The President have often said that he will not let his people go to jail for obeying his orders and doing their jobs.
"High morale ang police and hindi ka pababayaan ng iyong Commander-in-Chief ‘pag ika’y nagtatrabaho," Dela Rosa said.
