In a report written by veteran journalist Glenda Gloria on April 11, 2011, it detailed the rising of the Kuratong Baleleng, a gang created by the notorious Parojinog clan initially to take down communist rebels.
When the rebels were slowly wiped out, the Kuratong was said to have lost means of income and, thus, resorted to crimes.
Several bank robberies and murders that happened across Manila, Cebu, and their hometown, Ozamiz City, was their doing.
More surprisingly, the report revealed that Senator Francisco “Kiko” Pangilinan from the opposition as the first lawyer of the notorious gang.
In her article, Gloria said:
“If everyone remembers Francisco “Kiko” Pangilinan now as a senatorial wannabe and staunch anti-Estrada activist, not everyone remembers that he was the first lawyer of whistleblower De los Reyes when the latter spilled the beans on Lacson et al. six years ago.”
Eduardo de los Reyes, as mentioned in the excerpt, was the whistleblower police sergeant from the Kuratong Baleleng.
