Ozamiz Celebrates and conducts Interfaith rally to extend their support on Ozamiz City Police "NOW WE LIVE SAFE"

For so many years, it must have been like hell for the Ozamiznons. Years of suffering and chained under the unimaginable chaotic rule of the political dynasty Parojinog finally came to an end.

A week after the deaths of Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and 15 others, more than 300 Ozamiznons held a prayer rally in front of the Ozamiz City Hall on Sunday, August 6. This is not protest against the brutal death of the slain mayor but a celebration of his end who died among 15 others during a bloody raid in their homes.

Religious groups gathered, calling for unity while waving their banners expressing support to the city's police and military.

"JUSTICE HAS!!! HAS BEEN SERVE; I LOVE ESPENIDO; FREE OZAMIZ; NOW WE ARE SAFE; WE LOVE PNP OZAMIZ; WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS; ESPENIDO AND TROOPS THANK YOU"

These are just some of the statements written on streamers of the prayer rally attendees.

The rally was attended by hundreds of the Parojinog's victims while others were from different sectors.

Such event is a very rare. Not everyone have the guts to celebrate a narco-politician's death knowing there are is still danger waiting for them, especially doing it in public. Before, anyone who dare oppose the Parojinog or criticize them by any means will forever be silenced.

A radio journalist/broadcaster, Cosme Maestrado also known as Mr. Ratsada is believed to be a victim of the notorious family. It was when he bravely interviewed a certain Cocoy Colanggo, who confessed to be Herbert Colanggo's relative. Cocoy was the right-hand man of the high-profile inmate of New Bilibid. During the interview on Cocoy's deathbed, he revealed that the Parojinogs are engaged in illegal drug trade. Despite the speculations, Maestrado's family did not file a case against them.

A pastor of a church, whose names wasn't identified in a one-on-one interview, exposed more of the despicable activities of the narco-family.

According to him, the reason why there no business investors in Ozamiz is because the Parojinogs are soliciting from business owners, its either give or die. All of the political opponents also disappear because they were killed by through Mayor Aldong's orders.

"Do I need to stress what is obvious? Kung sinong pumatay? Do I need to tell you kung sinong pumatay? Klaro naman yan, in broad daylight they are doing it. Ilan ba sa mga close-in ko, dalawa or tatlo ang pinatay nila in broad daylight."

He too had the same experiences with the Parojinogs. His house and church was destroyed, instruments were stolen. The worst part is that he and his family had to go into hiding because, everyone in his family will die if they didn't.

"But God turned his back against them. That God has his own way of serving justice, kami ang gusto nilang patayin, pero yun ang nangyari sa kanila," he said.

He ran as a city councilor, although he won the hears of the people, he lost the counting at the COMELEC for it was also under the control of the Parojinog.

Now that the family has "crumbled down", he expects for the rise of Ozamiz City, the potential of the city to be fully developed.

Asked if he is glad on the way the Parojinogs died, he said, "You know what, God has his own way of serving justice. Ano man ang paraan ng Panginoon, natutuwa ako, Lethal injection man yan, matutuwa pa din ako. Kung ano ang kinalabasan, kung ganyan [man ang sinapit nila], God is only showing kung gaano sila kabrutal noon sa mga tao, ang Biblical principle kasi "What you sow, you reap." [Translates to: Kuang ano ang itinanim, sya rin ang aanihin.]

The Pastor also wishes for PCI Jovie Espenido to be retained in Ozamiz City because they need him. There are still several drug lords in the city that needs to be eradicated.
