Political Analyst lectured Sen. Pangilinan on the differences of search warrant between arrest warrant

An Asian political analyst responded to the recent doubtful statements of Senator Kiko Pangilinan regarding the search warrant served against Ozamiz City Mayor Aldong Parojinog and his wife before the crack of dawn in their residence.

"Serving warrants of arrest past 2 a.m., disabling the CCTVs prior to entering the premises, all 15 suspected drug lords at the scene of the crime and their 'armed to the teeth' bodyguards are killed, no injuries or casualties on the side of the PNP. Hindi makatotohanan. Puwedeng gawin ito kaninuman,” Senator Pangilinan said.

Through her Facebook account, Malou Tiquia explained the differences between a search warrant and an arrest warrant.

Obviously, the two differ in spelling but most of all their huge difference lies in the purpose of serving. One is used for searching personal property, offices or buildings while the other one is for arresting an individual or a group of people.

A search warrant is used during the day but if the affidavit states the items being searched by authorities are in the possession of the people named or at the place declared to be searched, the warrant must directly state it can be served any time because it is easy to relocate gunds and drugs to different places.

Another thing, she mentioned the police's raid against the Parojinogs lasted for more than two hours before CInsp Espinido's team was able to subdue the persons of interest.

At the end of her post, she asked the senator about the oath a mayor and vice mayor take. "Did it mention anything about resisting arrest or obstruction of justice," she asked in Filipino.

Below are the exact Malou Tiquia, delivered in full Filipino.

May kataga bang resisting arrest o obstruction of justice?"

The Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and several others were killed during a police operation in Sunday.

According to Police Regional Office 10 director Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb, a total of 15 people were killed in the gunfight, lasting for more than two hours. Apparently, the Parojinog resisted on the search warrants that was served on their homes before dawn.

Included in the death toll were the mayor's wife, Susan and his brother Provincial Board Member Octavio Parojinog while one police officer was injured during the clash.

From the update provided by Misamis Occidental PPO chief Senior Superintendent Jaysen de Guzman, the police officers were greeted with consecutive gunshots as they enter the family's compound.

With the law enforcers were six search warrants in the houses of the slain mayor, his daughter and Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez, Board Member Parojinog, City Councilor Ricardo Parojinog, and one other for loose firearms.

The Parojinog siblings, Nova and his brother, were invited to the station for questioning.

A total of one kilo of shabu was recovered from the mayor's homes and "a large [amount] of shabu and paraphernalia" were found in Councilor Parojinog's house.

Lucky for the councilor, he was not in his house during the raid.
