“Virus ka lang, Fighter to, Nanay ako.” — Defiant words of Covid-19+ Pinay in the US

A US-based Filipina named Cristina Javillonar Burbon has taken to socmed to describe what it is like to be COVID-19+.

Burbon from the state of Virginia announced on Facebook announced she got it and thought from the very beginning it was another regular attack of her asthma but turned out to be the dreaded virus.

“COVID19 positive. No known exposure. Asymptomatic at first. What I thought is just a regular episode of asthma, turned out to be the virus. “

Burbon compared the virus to the monster that slowly gnaws your body. Everyday it gets worse until walking is very difficult to do. She said no matter how strong you think you are, you can’t help but cry. She can feel the pain in every cell of her body.

“Para siyang monster na unti unting kinakain ang katawan mo. Everyday, it gets worse na halos d na ko makalakad. Sobrang sakit kahit na sobrang tatag mo e mapapaiyak ka na lang. I can feel the pain in every cell of my body.”

Burbon said she can’t describe the pain. She was discharged from ER after 10 hours, no treatment given but under monitoring of the vital signs to makes sure there are no complications. She was given Tylenol for the pain.

“There’s no way I can define the kind of pain. Got discharged After almost 10 hours sa ER, no treatment, they will just monitor your vital stats and make sure there’s no complications. Walang gamot para tanggalin sa katawan mo ang virus. Ang tanging maooffer sayo ng ospital e Tylenol, pang-pain reliever lang.”

At the of writing, Burbon has been put under house quarantine, waiting for the immune system to do its work and defeat the virus. She was hopeful she she can bounce back in a few days.

Ngayon, naka quarantine lang ako sa bahay, hinihintay malabanan ng katawan ko ang virus. Hopefully, in a few days okay na ako.

Like any Pinoy facing a natural calamity, Burbon uttered the famous line that shows the defiant spirit of Filipinos and known the world over, “Virus ka lang, Fighter to, Nanay ako.”
