Well, guess what? Retired broadcaster Jay Sonza has shared his thoughts on the controversy involving PhilHealth, the government-owned health insurance provider.
Sonza opened the FB post by introducing himself as someone who can speak on the PhilHealth issue because like many Filipinos, they are a family of OFWs.
“Let me speak as a parent and as a brother of 7 overseas Filipino workers or OFWs.”
Sonza believed that PhilHealth is redundant because automatically an OFW’s salary is subject to taxes, medical insurance and what not in your host country.
Sonza lamented the sad plight of OFWs who are obviously the government’s pet milking cow.
Sonza scoffed at the people who came up with the idea behind the latest PhilHealth scheme.
Sonza thumbed down the dirty trick employed by PhilHealth to subdue the will of OFWs using OWWA as their partner in crime, figuratively speaking.
“Ginamit pang kasangkapan sa panggigipit ang mga tanggapan ng OEC, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Manila International Airport Authority, Department of Health. Overseas Welfare Administration, Bureau of Internal Revenue at iba pa.”
Otherwise, the poor OFW is barred from leaving the country if he or she refuses to pay up. Sonza remarked that if this isn’t bullying, he asked if this is a form of an insult?
Pang-aalipusta?”
