Two more UAAP standouts have expressed their intention to join the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft this September.
Rappler’s Naveen Ganglani reported that Henry Galinato Jr., a center from the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, is planning to enter the draft.
The 6-foot-6 Galinato was a reserve during UP’s title run in UAAP Season 84 before playing his one-and-done stint during Season 85 last year.
Galinato dreams to play for either Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings or San Miguel Beermen, but any team he lands on would be “great” for him, according to Ganglani.
Deschon Winston of the De La Salle University Green Archers is also throwing his name into the PBA Draft this year.
Winston played for two seasons with the Green Archers and was a frontrunner for MVP honors in UAAP Season 85 before suffering an injury.
Head coach Vincent “Chot” Reyes did not call back the Filipino-American guard, who was also a former prospect for the Gilas Pilipinas.
Ganglani said Winston “is stronger, bouncier, and healthier from the last time he was in action” and is hoping to be selected by a PBA team where he can have a good spot.
