Gilas Pilipinas’ Jordan Clarkson couldn’t help but wonder about the reason fans at the Araneta Coliseum booed national team coach Chot Reyes before their game against Italy.
Prior to the Italy game, the nationals lost two straight against the Dominican Republic and Angola, much to the disappointment of basketball-crazy Pinoys. The spectators made their feelings felt by jeering Reyes when he was introduced before the match on Tuesday.
“It’s a little weird. Especially as host, as a home country,” said Clarkson during the press conference after their 90-83 defeat to Italy.
“I don’t know really much about the situation, but it’s feel a little weird.”
Kiefer Ravena shared Clarkson’s sentiments and stood by their coach.
“I know it’s been happening, but I’m gonna play for my coach ‘til the wheels fall off,” said the seasoned playmaker.
“We have to use this crowd as an advantage, not a disadvantage, ‘di ba? ‘Yun naman ang pinaka rason kung bakit natin dinala ‘tong event na ‘to dito.”
