Eala falls vs Spanish wildcard Perez in Barcelona QF

Alex Eala crashed out of the W60 Barcelona tournament after bowing to Spanish wildcard Georgina Garcia Perez, 4-6, 3-6, in the quarterfinals in Spain on Friday.

Perez, who has 12 ITF singles titles under her belt, finished the game in one hour and 33 minutes.

Despite Eala enjoying a slightly higher first serve percentage of 58 percent than Garcia Perez’s 54 percent, it was the Spaniard who leveled up by winning 90 percent of her first serve points (27 out of 30) versus the Filipino’s 60 percent (25 out of 42).

Perez will meet fellow veteran Arina Rodionova of Australia in the semifinals of the $60,000 ITF event.
