Alphonse Areola put on a respectable performance as West Ham’s goalkeeper, contributing to their 3-1 victory over Chelsea in the English Premier League on Sunday night (Monday, Manila time) at the London Stadium.
The Filipino-French goalkeeper conceded one goal to Chelsea early in the first half but has produced three saves since then as West Ham improved to four points with one win and a draw.
Nayed Aguerd opened the scoring for West Ham with his seventh-minute strike, but Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka leveled the match in the 28th minute.
West Ham reclaimed the lead early in the second half courtesy of Michail Antonio’s 53rd-minute hit before Lucas Paquetá sealed the win with a goal in the final minute.
Areola and West Ham will return to the pitch on August 27 (12:30 am, Manila time) against Brighton.
