Despite the reported salary issue among its players, the General Santos Warriors remained unfazed and secured a crucial 87-80 victory over Bacolod City of Smiles during the MPBL 2023 season on Saturday night at the Bataan People’s Center.
John Wilson presided over the offense for the Warriors with 20 points; Jervy Cruz added 15 markers; and PBA rookie aspirant Kyt Jimenez had 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in the win.
Rather than talking about the issue, Wilson said that the team’s main focus now is to fix their on court chemistry, as they are one of the contenders for the upcoming MPBL playoffs.
“Ang gusto namin maayos sa ngayon is ‘yung chemistry namin inside the court, kasi kulang pa,” Wilson said in his Player of the Game interview. Also, isa sa mga tinututukan namin is ‘yung team defense.”
Just a few days ago, sports insider Snow Badua posted on his Facebook page that some Warriors players are complaining about their delayed salaries.
“Magpasweldo na kayo Gensan Warriors bago ko makakuha ng interview sa mga players nyo. Kung nakakasweldo sila sa oras bukas ang page na to sa paliwanag at depensa nyo,” Badua wrote.
“Kung hindi, magpasweldo na kayo please. Bago ko mainterview ng isa-isa ‘yan ilalabas ko boses nila,” he added.
The Warriors currently have a 19-6 win-loss slate, while Bacolod City dropped to 10-15 in the standings.
