The Akari group is planning to put up a second team in the Premier Volleyball League.
The sister team of the Power Chargers can come in as early as the All-Filipino Conference this October, according to a tweet by The Philippine Star’s Joey Villar.
The entry of a new team from the Akari group will increase the total number of participating teams to 12 and the number of sister teams to four.
PVL president Ricky Palou already hinted at the entry of another team during a press conference last Wednesday.
“We are still trying to find out kung sino pero mayroon nang nagpapadala ng feelers kung pwede bang sumali. Sabi ko, ‘Pwede. Depende sa inyo, what’s your long-term plan?'” Palou said.
“Our condition for the teams who want to join is that they’re supposed to stay with us for the long term; hindi ‘yung labas-pasok, labas-pasok,” he added.
“Ang gusto namin you come in, you play for years, you stay with us for years, you play in all conferences. Most probably magiging dose tayo,” he further said.
Three teams have entered the league during the Invitational Conference: the Foton Tornadoes, Farm Fresh Foxies, and Quezon City Gerflor Defenders.
