Pampanga Governor Delta Pineda revealed that Justine Baltazar did not receive a call-up to be a part of Gilas Pilipinas’ player pool for the FIBA World Cup.
“Hindi (siya tinawag),” Pineda said when asked why Baltazar was excluded from the player pool.
“Sayang nga. Pero marami naman yatang big man ‘yung Gilas ngayon eh, ano?” the Governor added, according to a Spin.ph report.
Baltazar was a consistent part of the Gilas program back when Tab Baldwin was handling the team. He suddenly disappeared when Chot Reyes took over during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
The former Green Archer is now dominating in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, where he is averaging 17.9 points and 17.2 rebounds per game.
Pineda added that it is also uncertain if Baltazar will enter this year’s PBA draft.
“October (pa naman ata ‘yung draft). I’ll decide pa kung papa-draft ko ng October si Justine,” he said. (MJD)
