Multiple MPBL players declare for 2023 PBA rookie draft

Many current and former Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League players are aiming to advance to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) by officially declaring their intent to participate in the upcoming rookie draft.

John Lloyd Clemente, Archie Concepcion, Louie Sangalang, JB Bahio, Jayson Apolonio, and Raymond Binuya of the Pampanga Giant Lanterns have declared their desire to enter the league, based on the individual interviews done by Basketball Zone.

Also planning to join the PBA draft are Michael Are, Jboy Gob, Troy Mallilin, Franz Abuda, Rodney Fuentes, and Jeric James Pido of the Rizal Xentro Mall Golden Coolers.

Valenzuela Classic-XUR Homes Realty’s Krenz Carlos, Tsutomu Tateishi, AJ Benson, and Michael Macion also plan to enter the PBA, as do Zach Huang, Nikko Panganiban, Adrian Nocum, and Reeve Ugsang of the San Juan Knights.

Joshua Flores, Lorenzo Navarro, Omar Larupay, and Shaquille Imperial of the Iloilo United Royals; Rommel Calahat, Jessie Sumoda, Ammar Cosari, and Enrique Caunan of the Sarangani Marlins; JC Cullar, Matthew Daves, and Onzo Lorenzana of the Makati OKBet Kings; and Jeric Serrano, Laurenz Victoria, and Rey Bienes of the Pasay Voyagers also filed their draft application.

Also wanting to enter the PBA are John Amores, King Destacamento, and Tonton Peralta of the Muntinlupa Cagers; Joe Gomez de Liaño and Inand Fornilos of the Marikina City Shoemasters; Shane Menina and Ryan Costelo of the Pasig City-MCW Sports; Jimboy Pasturan and Jhan Nermal of the Bacoor City Strikers; and Kemark Cariño and Sherwin Concepcion of the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards.

Kyt Jimenez of the GenSan Warriors, Irven Palencia of the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo, Dyll Roncal of the Imus Bandera-XTREME, JR Raflores of the Bulacan Kuyas, Lean Martel of the Parañaque Patriots, Jaymar Gimpayan of the Imus SV Squad, King Caralipio of the Zamboanga Family Sardines, Ichie Altamirano of the Negros Muscovados, and Raffy Verano of the Quezon Huskers also expressed their desire to be drafted.

Former MPBL players Daniel Atienza, Egie Boy Mojica, Jeremy Arthur, Kim Aurin, Fran Yu, Johnnel Rey Bauzon, Warren Bonifacio, Dariel Bayla, Jayvee Dela Cruz, Jolo Mendoza, Brent Paraiso, Tommy Olivario, Due Lacastesantos, Richard Velchez, Noah Lugo, Fletcher Galvez, Larry Arpia, Jaybie Mantilla, and Chino Mosqueda will also try their luck in the PBA.

The 2023 edition of the PBA Rookie Draft is slated for September 17 at the Market! Market! in Taguig City.
