LeBron James on facing Kevin Durant: ‘I never take for granted opportunities’

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James said that he will not take for granted the opportunity to face Kevin Durant, as both of them are approaching the twilight years of their respective careers.

On Friday, the Lakers faced the Phoenix Suns, and James finally matched up against Durant for the first time in five years.

The Lakers escaped with a 100-95 win behind James’ 21 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. On the other hand, Durant carried the Devin Booker-less Phoenix with 39 points and 11 boards.

After the game, James shared his thoughts on facing a fellow aging superstar like Durant.

“Absolutely. I mean, I never take for granted opportunities—the games that we get out to be on the same floor at the same time. We’ve had so many battles, but you know, his career and my career, we’ve just been able to make so many plays individually for respective teams throughout that and, you know, be able to be in two Olympics with him as well,” James said.

“We don’t have many matchups left. Not sure how many of you have left. So you don’t ever want to take it for granted when you’re essentially a great player and one of the best that’s ever played this game. It’s always a treat,” the Lakers superstar added.

Including their latest faceoff, Durant and James matched up against each other 36 times in their careers; 14 of these games are in the playoffs.

The two faced each other in the finals three times. James won their first NBA finals matchup, while Durant clinched the next two. (MJD)
