UE’s Gjerard Wilson ruled out for the remainder of UAAP Season 86

The University of the East Red Warriors suffered a huge blow as rookie guard Gjerard Wilson was ruled out for the remainder of the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament.

Wilson sustained a dislocated shoulder injury during their game against the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles last week.

“It hurts that my season got cut short, but it was fun while it lasted. Thank you, UE community. You guys have shown me a lot of love. I’ll be back🔴⚪. Nevertheless, glory to God☝🏽.” Wilson said in an Instagram post on Tuesday night.

Wilson, who originally committed to the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers before transferring to the Red Warriors, was one of the rotation players for Santiago during their first four games this season.

The Filipino-American guard had his best game with the Red Warriors during their come-from-behind 65-58 victory over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on October 7, where he scored 15 points.

Overall, Wilson averaged seven points, two assists, 1.25 steals, and one rebound in four matches. He will still have one year of playing eligibility for the Red Warriors.
