Ximone Sandagon stars as Quezon forces Zamboanga to do-or-die Game 3

Ximone Sandagon stepped up for the Quezon Huskers in the fourth quarter as they scored a 65-58 victory over the Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines in Game 2 of the MPBL Southern Division quarterfinals on Saturday night at the Mayor Vitaliano D. Agan Coliseum in Zamboanga City.

Down 42-43 to start the fourth quarter, the Huskers got eight points from Sandagon, followed by connections from Al Francis Tamsi and Robin Rono, to establish a 58-47 advantage with three minutes left.

Zamboanga City managed to cut it to 50-58 via a three-pointer from Judel Fuentes, but Quezon secured the victory on a three-pointer by Mon Alvin Abundo and two free throws by Christopher Lagrama.

Sandagon, formerly of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, finished with 10 points, with eight coming in the fourth quarter, to go with eight rebounds as the Huskers tied their best-of-three quarterfinal series at 1-1.

Tamsi top-scored for Quezon with 13 points, including two three-point conversions, while Prince Rivero and Rodel Gravera also contributed 10 markers apiece in the victory.

Jaycee Marcelino tallied 19 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists, while his twin brother Jayvee Marcelino contributed 10 markers for Zamboanga City.

The do-or-die Game 3 between Quezon and Zamboanga City is slated for October 21.
