Alejandro’s big treys propel Phoenix to come-from-behind victory

Jayjay Alejandro made six crucial three-pointers, propelling Phoenix to overcome a 16-point deficit and secure a triumphant start to their PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign with a 113-101 victory over NLEX on Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

Alejandro concluded the game with 18 points, 15 of which were scored in the payoff period when they surged ahead of the Road Warriors.

“Everybody forgets he’s in the Mythical 5 in the UAAP in his final year, so he’s capable of really producing,” said coach Jamike Jarin.

“I was just fortunate enough to be with him in his final years with NU, so meron na kaming relationship on how we handle and do things.”

Contributing to NLEX’s struggles was the collapse they faced in the payoff period, being outscored 15 to 35.
Jonathan Williams led Phoenix in scoring with 26 points.

Thomas Robinson scored 26 for NLEX, but he faded towards the end of the game.
