NLEX, Phoenix eye strong start

NLEX and Phoenix are expected to come out strong on Friday when they battle it out in the main game of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Coach Frankie Lim of the Road Warriors and his Fuel Masters counterpart Jamike Jarin have already settled down with their respective teams by now, which is why a competitive match is anticipated.

NLEX will be parading import Thomas Earl Robinson, formerly of the Sacramento Kings, who was supposed to suit up for San Miguel last year.

He will finally make his PBA debut alongside rookie Richie Rodger from the University of the East.

Phoenix, on the other hand, will be having reinforcement Jonathan Williams backed up by their draft selection from Ateneo Matthew Daves.

Both Robinson and Williams have impressive resumes, with the former seeing action for the Kings, Houston Rockets, Portland Trailblazers, and Los Angeles Lakers.

Williams, on the other hand, had stints with the Lakers and the Washington Wizards.

Williams also saw action for the US in the 2011 FIBA Americas U16 and 2012 FIBA U17 World Cup.

Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. followed by the 4 p.m. curtain raiser between Terrafirma and NorthPorth.
